" Trepidation over global upheaval and loss in 2020 created an uncertain backdrop for an artist’s first solo museum exhibition.
A mixture of skepticism, excitement, and melancholy is allowed to exist in Gonzalo Hernandez’s exhibition, titled ):), at SCAD Museum of Art. "These drawings look at how familiar words, phrases, and personal narratives can dramatically re-define with shifting daily perspectives. They are all taking on new meaning. In the Yupo series, I found texts, words, and images - each piece is one of a kind. Phrases such as "Aquí no hay milagros" or "Everything comes from here <3", relate to everyday artist life and daily struggles associated with the profession". - Gonzalo Hernandez
